Sechrist Named New TTUHSC School of Health Professions Dean

TTUHSC named Dawndra Sechrist, OTR, Ph.D., as the new dean of the School of Health Professions. Sechrist is the associate dean for Outcomes and Assessment at the TTUHSC School of Health Professions and a tenured associate professor. She previously was the director of the Master of Occupational Therapy program at TTUHSC.

TTUHSC Team Decontaminates PPE to Solve Shortages

One suggested way to reduce the stress COVID-19 has placed on the PPE supply chain is to extend the lifetime of existing equipment. With that in mind, a team from TTUHSC has been studying a method that can decontaminate used PPE, especially N95 masks and face shields.

Taking the Office Home Doesn’t Reduce the Importance of Exercise

With Zoom meetings, FaceTime and other technology, we may be able to maintain face-to-face contact, but we miss out on the simple take-it-for-granted physical exercise that comes from walking across campus or down long halls to speak to colleagues.

Patient Navigators Cut ER Visits, Hospitalization For High Risk Health Care Users

TTUHSC recently completed a study to determine if an interprofessional patient navigation program (PNP) created using Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) guidelines can help decrease emergency room visits and hospital admissions for these high consumers of health care.
