Student National Medical Association to Host Free Health Fair
The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine will host a free health fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at United Market Street, 4425 19th St.

Helping After Harvey
Portia Grant, a senior Veteran to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (VBSN) student, knew she wanted to be a part of the military growing up. Her father served for 28 years in the Army before his retirement, and she wanted to follow in his footsteps, enlisting in the Army in 2011. While she wanted to be a soldier, she also wanted to be a health care provider.
Flu season is coming fast, get your vaccinations early
Flu season is here. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the flu kills about 36,000 people a year in the United States. With Flu activity beginning to increase in October and peaking between December and March, Franklyn C. Babb, M.D., FAAFP, a physician for Texas Tech Physicians — Family Medicine, said don’t make excuses not to get your flu vaccine.

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy’s Texas Panhandle Poison Center along with the Lubbock County VOICES Coalition will host a Medication Cleanout™ from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 7 at the Texas Tech Physicians Medical Pavilion, 3601 Fourth St.
