The Southern Section-American Federation for Medical Research (SAFMR) and the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation (SSCI) recently awarded a $750 travel grant to Mohammed Al-Obaide, a research associate for Department of Pediatrics Professor Tetyana L. Vasylyeva, M.D., Ph.D.

Poison Center Achieves Reaccreditation
The Texas Panhandle Poison Center, hosted by the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy in Amarillo, has achieved re-accreditation through 2023 from the American Association of Poison Control Centers.
CPRIT grant renewed for pediatric brain cancer research at TTUHSC in Amarillo
Dr. Kalkunte Srivenugopal’s research at the School of Pharmacy in Amarillo received a boost in November when CPRIT named him a recipient of an Individual Investigator Research Award for Cancer in Children and Adolescents.
National Memory Screening Day a success

TTUHSC Program Helping Local Area Meet National ‘80% by 2018’ Goals
TTUHSC surgical oncologist Subhasis Misra, M.D., hosted a group of state and local leaders who pledged their support for the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable’s “80% by 2018” initiative that seeks to regularly screen 80 percent of adults aged 50 and older for colorectal cancer by 2018.
