Meeting the Demand for Nurses in Texas

Forty years ago, the TTUHSC School of Nursing was created and has steadily grown since then to meet the need for nurses in the State of Texas. There are over 2,000 students located all over the state and beyond, making it the largest of the TTUHSC schools and one of the largest schools of nursing in the state.

Advancements in Health Care Education Celebrated at Museum by Night

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) hosted “Museum by Night: The Art of Health Care,” a night dedicated to celebrate the advancements in health care education. “Museum by Night” was held March 28 at the Helen Devitt Jones Auditorium and Sculpture Court, at the Museum of Texas Tech University, 3301 Fourth St.

Thirty-two TTUHSC students from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health Professions and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences attended the Official Ring Ceremony and received their rings from Texas Tech University System Chancellor and TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.

TTU System Honors Top Faculty Members with Chancellor’s Council Awards

Throughout the month of January, Texas Tech University System Chancellor Dr. Tedd L. Mitchell recognized 13 faculty members from the TTU System’s four institutions as recipients of the 2019 Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards. These awards recognize excellence in academics and research, and are the most prestigious honors given to faculty members within the TTU System.

Texas Tech University System Chancellor and TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., emphasized the importance of shared values and recognized faculty members for their achievements at the 2018 State of the University Address and Faculty Convocation Nov. 27.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education ranked Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) as one of the top 100 producers of minority health sciences degrees in the nation.

The Larry Combest Community Health & Wellness Center and the Combest Central Community Health Center provide a range of services for individuals in West Texas to improve access to care and reduce or eliminate health disparities among high risk populations.

TTUHSC School of Nursing Dean Recognized for Outstanding Service by American Nurses Credentialing Center

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) presented its prestigious Margretta Madden Styles President’s Award to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing Dean Michael Evans, Ph.D., R.N., NEA-BC, FACHE, FAAN. The award recognizing his outstanding eight years of service as ANCC president, board member, and board director was announced Oct. 25 at the National Magnet Conference in Denver.

A School of Excellence

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing was named a National League for Nursing (NLN) Centers of Excellence. The NLN Centers of Excellence were formally recognized during the Honors Convocation in Chicago at the 2018 NLN Education Summit Sept. 14.
