Medical Students Look Deeper Into Impact of Health Fairs
Last year Mark Burroughs, Chelsea Burroughs and Taylor Lundgren, now all third-year medical students, were officers of the local chapter of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC).
Lubbock City Lights: Viva Las Vegas
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine first-year students will host the 21st Annual Lubbock City Lights Charity Gala & Casino Night at 6 p.m. April 27 at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center, 2322 Mac Davis Lane.
Celebrating 30 Years of Research
Samuel Prien, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, started at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in 1980. He remembered the creation of a student-run Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences event in 1988. This year marked the 30-year anniversary of the event, and Prien has served as the event judge for 25 years.
Student National Medical Association to Host Free Health Fair
The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine will host a free health fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at United Market Street, 4425 19th St.

Elizabeth Cook, a second-year medical student, is from Columbus, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2009 from Texas Christian University.
TMA Recognizes TTUHSC Preceptor
Alan Keister, M.D., a clinical associate professor for TTUHSC’s Department of Internal Medicine and co-founder of Amarillo’s Heal the City clinic, was presented the 2018 John P. McGovern Champion of Health Award by the Texas Medical Association Foundation.
Chancellor’s Council Recognizes Texas Tech University System’s Top Faculty
Texas Tech University System Chancellor Robert Duncan recently recognized 14 faculty members from the system’s four component institutions as recipients of the 2018 Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards. These awards recognize excellence in academics and research, and are the most prestigious honors granted to faculty members throughout the TTU System.
National Memory Screening Day
The TTUHSC Department of Internal Medicine in Amarillo annually offers free memory screening in conjunction with National Memory Screening Day.
