Medical Students Receive First White Coats
The white coat is one of the most visible symbols of the health care provider. Incoming students for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine Class of 2023 will take part in the White Coat Ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday (August 2) at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theatre, 1501 Mac Davis Lane.
More than 100 Texas Tech Physician Doctors Make “Top Docs” List
This year, more than 100 Texas Tech Physicians doctors were recognized by fellow area physicians as the best in their field. Twenty-eight Texas Tech Physicians doctors from the Amarillo clinics were selected for Amarillo Magazine’s “Top Docs” and seventy-three Texas Tech Physicians from the Lubbock clinics were selected for Lubbock Magazine’s “Top Docs.”

As more rains and thunderstorms hit West Texas, the more we are seeing mosquitos and mosquito bites. Ronald Warner, DVM, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, has ways to prevent these bites referring to them as the “Four Ds.”
Pharmacy Students Find Residency Matches
TTUHSC pharmacy students interested in completing a residency after they graduate in May found out in March and April where they would spend the next stage of their training during the Pharmacy Residency Match Day.

The TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy celebrated the Class of 2019 on May 18 with its annual awards breakfast and graduation ceremony at the Amarillo Civic Center.

During Gov. Smith’s reign in politics, he was dedicated to improving higher education, signing into law new universities and establishing dental, medical and law schools. But it was the establishment of one new West Texas medical school that he battled for the most.
