Relief and Hope for Those with Severe Depression
TMS is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression. The treatment for severe depression involves delivering repetitive magnetic pulses to a specific area of the brain. TMS is typically used when other depression treatments have not been effective.

Bergeson, Collaborators Developing Novel Treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder
Susan Bergeson, Ph.D., a University Distinguished Professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine, has dedicated her career to trying to understand the complex mechanisms underlying alcohol use disorder (AUD). Recently she and Ted Reid, Ph.D., professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, designed a new medication, which is now on the path toward investigational new drug approval by the FDA.
Lubbock Osteopathic Fund Gifts TTUHSC $1.1 Million
The Lubbock Osteopathic Fund presented the TTUHSC School of Medicine $1.1 million for the establishment of the Lubbock Osteopathic Endowed Chair in Family Medicine. The chair position was presented to Ronald L. Cook, D.O., chair of the School of Medicine Department of Family and Community Medicine.
