Texas Gov. Rick Perry appointed Surendra Varma, associate dean of graduate medical education and resident affairs at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, to the Texas Medical Board for a term to expire April 2019, according to a news release from Perry’s office.

Varma received a medical degree from King George’s Medical University and completed his pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology fellowships at Harvard Medical School, according to the news release.
