Fort Stocton Hospital a Leader in EHR Implementation

WHAT: Pecos County Memorial Hospital will be recognized as a Meaningful Use Vanguard by the West Texas Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (WTxHITREC) for its leadership in the national electronic health record (EHR) transition.

WHEN: 9 a.m., Friday (June 15)

WHERE: Pecos County Memorial Hospital, 387 West I-10, Fort Stockton

EVENT: Administrator Jim Horton will accept the award for Pecos County Memorial Hospital. The recognition is an initiative of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology designed to honor, thank and bring together clinicians and hospitals that have successfully implemented EHRs.

Pecos County Memorial Hospital’s designation is awarded in tandem with the distinction as a leader in health information technology. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have also provided Pecos County Memorial an EHR incentive payment under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.

Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments are available to eligible professionals and hospitals when they adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of a certified EHR. The payments mean physicians and other eligible professionals can qualify for as much as $44,000 through Medicare or $63,750 through Medicaid. Hospitals can qualify for payments of $2 million or more.
