Proposed UTPB program to help nursing needs - Odessa American

A need for increased educational standards among nurses is a reoccurring topic among educational institutions and hospitals everywhere, and in the Permian Basin both nurses and educators seem ready to roll up their sleeves to meet the more rigorous standards.

For years, area hospitals have had the advantage of hiring registered nurses directly from Odessa College and Texas Tech University. But local hospitals follow national trends that indicate a majority of those hospitals staff by more than half with associate degreed RNs.
