TTUHSC School of Medicine Names New Department of Internal Medicine Chair
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine announced the appointment of Santhosh K.G. Koshy, M.D., MBA, as the new chair of the Department of Internal Medicine.
Abilene Campus, HSU Sign Public Health Partnership
Representatives from the TTUHSC campus in Abilene and the city’s Hardin-Simmons University signed an articulation agreement Aug. 24 that will allow qualified HSU students to enter TTUHSC’s public health degree program after completing three years of prerequisites at HSU.
Dallas Campus Welcomes Inaugural Pharmacy Class
With the start of the 2018-2019 academic year beginning Aug. 13, the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy now provides all four years of its Pharm.D. program at its Dallas-Fort Worth campus. To mark the occasion, the school held a reception Aug. 20 to introduce the 48-member Dallas campus Class of 2022.
Lubbock Hosts Annual Pharmacy Student Leadership Retreat
More than 100 students and 21 faculty members representing all four School of Pharmacy campuses met Aug. 17-18 in Lubbock for the school’s annual Student Leadership Retreat.
APCC Schedules Dates for Employee Flu Shots
The Amarillo Pharmaceutical Care Center (APCC), the Amarillo campus pharmacy located on the first floor of the School of Medicine building, has set up three dates for employees to receive their flu shots: August 28 and 30 (1:30-5 p.m.) and August 29 (8:30a.m. – noon).
Amarillo Grad Students, Resident Earn Awards, Travel Scholarships
Six graduate students from the School of Pharmacy’s Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a School of Medicine resident topped off their summers with poster awards and travel scholarships.
Poison Center schedules next Medication Cleanout events
The Texas Panhandle Poison Center recently announced its fall collection cycle for Medication Cleanout. The fall collections will begin Sept. 29 at the TTUHSC campus in Amarillo. Additional collections are scheduled for Oct. 13 in Lubbock and Oct. 27 in Abilene.
Pharmacy Student Chapters Lauded for Fundraising Efforts
Both chapters of the School of Pharmacy’s Phi Delta Chi (PDC) student organization were recognized Aug. 1-4 at PDC’s annual Leadership Development Seminar in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
