Dr. Misra goes to Washington
TTUHSC surgical oncologist Subhasis Misra, M.D., traveled to Washington D.C. last
month to meet with U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R) of Clarendon regarding H.R.1220, a resolution to close the loophole on Medicare
coverage for colonoscopy screening. Misra also discussed the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable’s “80% by 2018” campaign that seeks to screen 80 percent of Americans for colorectal
cancer by 2018. Thornberry plans to sign the pledge to help spread awareness of colorectal
cancer screenings and urge people to get screened. While in Washington, D.C., Thornberry’s
wife, Sally, provided Misra and his family with a tour of the White House.
