Hard Hats for Little Heads
TTUHSC School of Medicine AOA service to protect against injuries
WHAT: The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) will give free helmets to local youth to raise awareness for injuries and promote safe active lifestyles.
WHEN: 8 a.m. to noon March 5
WHERE: Amigos United Supermarket, 112 North University Ave.
EVENT: With the current obesity crisis, it is paramount for kids to have active, healthy lifestyles. The AOA encourages activities like cycling, skating, roller blading and other activities. However, it is important for parents to encourage safety during these activities. By providing helmets free of charge to youngsters, the AOA can both raise awareness of its importance, as well as directly help many kids.
The AOA is the national medical honor society dedicated to the belief that the profession of medicine will improve care for all by recognizing high educational achievement, honoring gifted teaching, encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community and supporting the ideals of humanism by promoting service to others.
