Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Announces Enrollment Numbers
Officials at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) announced today (Sept. 23) a new enrollment record with 4,200 students enrolled in the fall 2013 semester. This is an increase of nearly 5 percent over the 4,005 students enrolled last year when comparing the institution’s current components.
“Since the fall of 2006, student enrollment at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center has increased by nearly 2,000 students,” said Texas Tech University System Chancellor Kent Hance. “This significant growth is a tribute to the hard work of our faculty, staff and administrators and is helping prepare the next generation of health care professionals for the West Texas region and beyond.”
TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., said the university’s continued growth signifies its commitment to the mission of improving health care in Texas through research, education and outreach.
“Our growth in enrollment is a testimony to our innovative academic programs, outstanding faculty and the highly successful students we graduate,” Mitchell said. “In an increasingly interconnected environment, our excellent reputation continues to attract exceptional candidates from across Texas and the country.”
The School of Nursing had the highest enrollment of the TTUHSC schools with 1,487 students. The School of Allied Health Sciences had the second highest enrollment with 1,353 students.
The School of Medicine enrolled 587 students. The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the School of Pharmacy enrolled 139 and 633 students, respectively.
“All our degree programs at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center are recognized throughout the world for the outstanding healthcare education they provide and this is reflected in our continued enrollment growth,” said Rial Rolfe, Ph.D., MBA, senior vice president for academic affairs chief academic officer. “Employers target our graduates for positions in their companies. We are extremely proud of our outstanding students, faculty and alumni.”
TTUHSC is a multi-campus institution with campuses in Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, El Paso, Dallas, and the Permian Basin.
