Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice bill up for debate in House - The Dallas Morning News
The House will discuss the Sunset bill - and 27 amendments - that would renew the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and make slight changes to the agency and its operations.

The bill is based on the recommendations of the Sunset Commission's report and would renew the agency, which has a troubled past when it comes to standards of care, until 2021 and creates a case management committee. It would also open up the contract for the inmate the medical program, previously dominated by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
