High point: Rodríguez’s 50 bills - El Paso Inc.
For a liberal, Democratic state senator in Texas, El Paso’s José Rodríguez did pretty well in the marathon sessions of the state Legislature that wrapped up earlier this month.
He passed 50 bills that Gov. Rick Perry has signed into law, including one that turned the Lubbock-run regional Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso into an independent university, the top priority for El Paso’s legislative delegation. A partial list is on p. 5A. He also had a perfect attendance record.
