Texas Tech University System Approves Professor Emeritus for Physician

The Texas Tech University System today (Oct. 12) approved the title of professor emeritus for Dennis B. Dove, M.D., for his faithful service to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine.

Steven L. Berk, M.D., TTUHSC executive vice president and provost and dean of the School of Medicine, said Dove’s contributions leave a lasting legacy for students and faculty.

“Dr. Dove has proven himself not only as an exceptional physician, but also as a leader,” Berk said. “His dedication has played an integral part in the success of our school.”

Dove received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1972, completed a surgery residency at the Harlem Hospital Center in New York City and a pediatric surgery fellowship at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dove joined TTUHSC in 1998 as a professor and regional chair of the Department of Surgery in Amarillo. He has a distinguished list of publications, and presented scientific research at prestigious national and international conferences.

Dove has served on numerous university and hospital committees through his employment at TTUHSC. He retired on June 30.
