Amanda Smith knows about nursing education in San Angelo from the front lines.
"We're staring down the barrels of the worst nursing shortage in history," said Michael Evans, dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. "Nurses are the backbone of the health care system. Concurrent with the supply issue you have an aging population, a huge number of baby boomers going into their 70s, 80s, 90s and requiring a lot of nursing care.
