Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Welcomes New Allied Health Sciences Dean
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) administrators today (July 2) officially welcomed Robin Satterwhite, Ed.D., FACHE, as the university’s new School of Allied Health Sciences dean.
“Dr. Satterwhite exemplifies a fulfillment of our mission in growing our own,” said TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. “As a West Texas native, he understands the people we serve and shares the can-do attitude that defines our university and the communities in which we reside. I have the greatest confidence in Dr. Satterwhite and anticipate an exciting future for the School of Allied Health Sciences under his direction.”
Satterwhite earned his bachelor’s degree, MBA and Ed.D. from Texas Tech University. Since coming to TTUHSC in 1999 as regional dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences at the Permian Basin, Satterwhite has been an instructor, co-instructor and guest lecturer in more than 28 School of Allied Health Sciences courses and has served on multiple school, university and community committees.
In May 2005, Satterwhite moved to the Lubbock campus to serve as chair of the Department of Clinic Administration and Rehabilitation Counseling and associate dean for learning outcomes and technologies. He has administrative and operational oversight of critical information technology services and activities that support the online educational programs as well as the traditional allied health sciences learning programs.
Satterwhite has served as the principal investigator for the Health Resources and Services Administration Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students grant, resulting in more than $4.4 million in student scholarships. He is credited with the successful development and leadership of the Department of Clinic Administration and Rehabilitation Counseling, which now consists of more than 26 percent of the overall School of Allied Health Sciences enrollment.
Prior to entering academia, Satterwhite served as the administrator and CEO for two separate rural hospitals.
In his new role as dean, Satterwhite said he looks forward to continuing to build upon the monumental growth and successes that the School of Allied Health Sciences has achieved under the leadership of former Dean Paul P. Brooke Jr., Ph.D., FACHE.
“The school needs to focus on maintaining stability and identifying strategic areas
of academic development and growth that are consistent with the university’s goals
and which can be achieved within the current state budgetary environment,” Satterwhite
said. “Fortunately, we have an exceptional faculty and staff and presidential support
that can make all of this possible.”
