Blood shortages may soon be a thing of the past if research at Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center is successful in perfecting a derivative of cattle blood which can be used to replace human blood. Dr. Mario Feola, a professor of surgery at the Health Sciences Center, has been researching the project for 10 years. He said the hemoglobin solution has been successfully used in experimental mice, cats, rabbits and monkeys.
