United Supermarkets LLC co-owner Gantt Bumstead was taken offguard Wednesday morning when he saw his company’s name on the side of a building that isn’t a supermarket.

The Commons by United Supermarkets was named in recognition of the company’s $3 million donation to the Tech System. The donation created two new student scholarship programs at Tech and supports the growing nursing program at the Health Sciences Center, according to a Tech news release.
