Stamford Memorial Hospital a Leader in EHR Implementation

Stamford Memorial Hospital was recently recognized as a Meaningful Use Vanguard by the West Texas Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (WTxHITREC) for its leadership in the national electronic health record (EHR) transition.

Administrator Rick DeFoore and Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Miller accepted the award for Stamford Memorial Hospital. The recognition is an initiative of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology designed to honor, thank and bring together clinicians and hospitals that have successfully implemented EHRs.

Stamford Memorial Hospital’s designation is awarded in tandem with the distinction as a leader in health information technology. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have also provided Stamford Memorial an EHR incentive payment under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs.

Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments are available to eligible professionals and hospitals when they adopt, implement, upgrade or demonstrate meaningful use of a certified EHR. The payments mean physicians and other eligible professionals can qualify for as much as $44,000 through Medicare or $63,750 through Medicaid. Hospitals can qualify for payments of $2 million or more.
