As summer comes to a close and the sound of the school bell nears, preparation for the semester can help students of all ages with the stresses that may come with a new school year. Paul Douthit, associate professor in the department of pediatrics at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, said he advises parents of kindergartners and first-graders to begin talking about the school year well before the first day of class.
