The Cancer Research and Prevention Institute of Texas announced Thursday funding in excess of $81 million to support cancer research and commercialization projects in Texas. The 25 newly funded projects bring the total amount of grants by CPRIT since its inception in 2007 to more than $650 million. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center was awarded $1 million for research by primary investigator Barry Maurer, an assistant professor in cell biology and biochemistry.
