Former Dean and Kidnapping Victim to Sign Book
WHAT: Steven L. Berk, M.D., executive vice president and provost and dean of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), will sign copies of his new book, “Anatomy of a Kidnapping.”
WHEN: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1)
WHERE: Hastings, 2020 S. Georgia St. in Amarillo
EVENT: On March 6, 2005, Berk, who was then dean of the TTUHSC School of Medicine at Amarillo, was kidnapped from his southwest Amarillo home. The kidnapper took Berk on four-hour journey, which ended with Berk being dropped out in the country outside of Amarillo.
Berk’s captor was arrested days later in Arizona. Berk’s book chronicles the frightening journey, provides insight into his thoughts and outlines how he managed to protect his life and that of his family.
