As expected, funding for the Texas Tech University System, West Texas A&M and other major schools in the region was drastically reduced in the state budget for the next two fiscal years that the Legislature approved Saturday night and sent to Gov. Rick Perry for his approval.

Rep. John Frullo, R-Lubbock, whose House District 84 includes Texas Tech and the Tech Health Sciences Center, said he was also relieved the cuts were not as drastic.
