Local Educator Named Panhandle Nurse Practitioner of the Year
The Panhandle Nurse Practitioner’s Association has selected Shelly Seth, MSN, MBA, a part-time faculty member in the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Nursing at Amarillo, as the 2011 Nurse Practitioner of the Year.
“Congratulations to Shelly on this award and recognition,” said Emily Merrill, Ph.D., FNP, chair of the Department for Nurse Practitioner Studies in the TTUHSC School of Nursing at Amarillo. “She is a great role model for our advanced practice registered nursing students.”
Seth has served on the association’s Amarillo board as a representative for Texas Nurse Practitioners. In addition to her responsibility as a state representative, she worked on obtaining nonprofit status for the association, and established a mentoring program for new graduate nurse practitioners, providing them guidance and leadership.
She is a family nurse practitioner and an acute care nurse practitioner. In the TTUHSC School of Nursing, Seth teaches both primary and acute care courses in the Department of Nurse Practitioner Studies.
Seth received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas State University in 1982, and her Master of Science in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner certification from West Texas A&M University in 2002. In 2008, she earned her Post-Masters Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Texas Tech University.
The Panhandle Nurse Practitioner’s Association is a nurse practitioner group with more than 75 members serving the Amarillo area, including the Texas Panhandle.
