Jury awards ex-Texas Tech nurse $500,000 - El Paso Times

A former Texas Tech employee who sued the school alleging racial discrimination was awarded more than $500,000 by a jury last week, according to her lawyers, Connie Quintero and Ray Martinez.

Darlene Hollis, who is of Panamanian descent, worked for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso for seven years, from 1999 to 2006. She worked for several years as a staff nurse in the internal medicine department before being demoted and then fired. ...
