TTUHSC helps pediatric oncology patients have a day of fun
On June 11, TTUHSC in Amarillo teamed with Panhandle Agents, The Outdoor Adventure Foundation and Circle of Friends
to treat more than 60 pediatric oncology patients to an afternoon of fun at Wonderland
Amusement Park. The day gave children, as well as their parents and doctors, an opportunity
to have fun getting to know each other outside of the hospital environment.
"We like to give back to them and have one day with their families to just have fun and enjoy themselves and be normal," Brenda Chandler, TTUHSC Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse, said in an interview with Amarillo’s KAMR-TV.
Chandler and TTUHSC have been participating in this effort for pediatric oncology patients and their families for more than 10 years.
