El Paso Physician a Leader in EHR Implementation

Jose Luna, M.D., of Centro San Vicente, has been recognized as a Meaningful Use Vanguard by the West Texas Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (WTxHITREC) for his leadership in the national electronic health record (EHR)
transition.

Luna and his staff have accepted the award for their efforts and achieving meaningful use of an EHR. The recognition is an initiative of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology designed to honor, thank and bring together clinicians and hospitals that have successfully implemented EHRs. Luna has earned the distinction as a leader in health information technology.

WTxHITREC, a program of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, was awarded through an objective review process by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, as the designated organization for West Texas to support primary health care providers on EHR adoption and meaningful use.
