Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Names New Regional Dean for Dallas School of Pharmacy Campus

Roland Patry, Dr.P.H., FASHP, has been named regional dean for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy campus in Dallas.

Patry, a professor and former clinical practice and management chair for the school’s Department of Pharmacy Practice in Amarillo, received his Dr.P.H. from the University of Texas School of Public Health. He also received his M.S. from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and his B.S. from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.

In 2006, Patry spearheaded discussions between several faculty members at the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business and the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy that led to the development of a dual Pharm.D. – M.B.A. degree plan. The development made TTUHSC the 31st pharmacy program in the country — and the only one between Georgia and Arizona — to offer such a dual degree path.

The TTUHSC School of Pharmacy opened its Dallas/Fort (DFW) campus in 1999 on the grounds of the North Texas Veterans Affairs Hospital (North Texas VA). In 2008, the school expanded its DFW program and opened additional facilities within the Dallas Medical District at the Southwest Professional Building.

The DFW campus is presently home to more than 160 third- and fourth-year pharmacy students and postgraduate residents. In addition to the North Texas VA, the school has affiliations with many DFW medical community institutions, including Baylor University Medical Center, Children’s Medical Center, Cook Children’s Medical Center, Harris-Methodist Health System, Methodist Hospital Dallas, Parkland Memorial and Presbyterian Medical Center.
