Ten- year-old Cancer Fighter to Meet Red Raiders
Janet Lara clearly remembers the day her then 7-year-old son Myles Galvan was diagnosed with leukemia. Their family has fought the disease along with their health team at Texas Tech Physicians for more than three years.
“I still remember that day. It broke my heart,” Lara said. “But Myles loves his doctors and never complains. He is so excited to get to meet the Red Raiders. He watches every weekend to support his team.”
To celebrate Myles’ success with his battle with cancer, Texas Tech Physicians arranged a visit with the Texas Tech Red Raider football players on Monday (Oct. 29) immediately following the Texas Tech football media lunch at the Football Training Facility, 6th Street and Boston Avenue.
Myles, a 10-year-old Shallowater student, is completing the final rounds of chemotherapy to treat his leukemia. His treatment is overseen by the pediatric oncology specialists at Texas Tech Physicians, including Ihsan Al-Khalil, M.D., and Mercedes Day, N.P.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., will be on the practice field along with other members of Myles’ medical team.
