The Institute of Medicine identifies interprofessional teamwork as one of the core competencies needed for health professionals to be effective in the 21st century. Researchers have established that teams make fewer mistakes than individuals, especially when the members of the team are aware of the different responsibilities of each team member.
TTUHSC selected interprofessional teamwork as the topic for its first QEP in 2009
to build upon its mission to improve health care through education, research and outreach,
and to demonstrate continued leadership in health care education.
