Healing Shame: The Science of Abundant Relationships
The West Texas Association for Women in Science (WT-AWIS) will host a presentation, Healing Shame: The Science of Abundant Relationships, by Janice Gaunt, MS, LPC, noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 17) at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) 3601 Fourth St. Academic Classroom Building Room 110.
Gaunt is a practicing counselor specializing in how to experience abundant, healthy living while overcoming the effects of childhood trauma. Gaunt’s debut book, “The Shame Game,” guides readers as they embark on a journey of self-awareness and healing, empowering them to rediscover their birth-created value. The life they want – and deserve –is there for the taking.
Kendra Rumbaugh, Ph.D., TTUHSC assistant professor of surgery and WT-AWIS president, said the lecture can reach many people in the community.
“The issues Ms. Gaunt will discuss can affect the lives of men and women from all walks of society,” Rumbaugh said. “We’re happy she could take time off from her busy schedule to visit TTUHSC.”
The presentation also will be accessible to regional campuses:
- 11a.m. to noon (MT) El Paso, EPAEC 202
- Noon to 1 p.m. (CT) Amarillo, AMHSC 4717
- Noon to 1 p.m. (CT) Odessa, ODHSC 2C41
WT-AWIS is a group of women and men (faculty, staff, students and community members) founded in 2008 to actively support and encourage women of all ages and career choices. The group has adopted the vision and mission of the National Association for Women in Science. They envision a day when women will participate fully in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as manifested through equal opportunity, pay equity and recognition commensurate with their accomplishments.
