TTUHSC's Got Talent
Performances included classical piano, singing and dancing.
Health care students are frequently recognized for their intelligence, but their musical genius? Dancing skills? Rapping ability? That was the focus of a recent Lubbock event. The incoming School of Medicine class was recently welcomed to the world of health education with a talent show highlighting students from all TTUHSC schools.
In an "America's Got Talent," commentary-style manner, performances were judged by Steven L. Berk, M.D., executive vice president, provost and dean of the School of Medicine, Simon Williams, Ph.D., associate dean for the School of Medicine Office of Academic Affairs, Lauren Cobbs, M.D., assistant dean for the School of Medicine Office of Student Affairs, Jason Chandrapal, Student Government Association president, and Lindsay Johnson, associate academic dean for student affairs in the School of Allied Health Sciences.
Attendees were entertained by classical piano, belly dancing, ballroom dancing and singers to name a few.
In addition to providing laughs, the event also served the public. The cost of attendance was two canned food items, which were donated to the South Plains Food Bank, and a tribute banner was on hand for people to send messages of support to the victims and families of the Aurora, Colo., movie theater shooting. Organizers also made available the “Aurora Victim Relief Fund-Giving First” for those who wished to donate to the fund.
