For years we've been told how important it is to have a mammogram to detect breast cancer. Most women realize that their best chance of survival is in early detection, but what if you are uninsured and don't have the $175 plus to pay for a mammogram?

"University Medical Center in Lubbock is partnering with Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to offer free breast exams and cervical screenings for uninsured patients at the UMC Breast Care Center from 10 a.m.-noon on Friday, Oct. 28," announced Dr. Candy Arentz, assistant professor in the department of surgery at TTU Health Sciences Center.
