Lecture Series Focuses on Senior Brain Health for May – Older Americans Month

WHAT:  Brain Health 101, hosted by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Garrison Institute on Aging (GIA) Healthy Aging Lecture Series and sponsored by the Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center and Humana Marketpoint. The Healthy Aging Lecture Series is a monthly educational program for the public to learn more about innovative research and health topics of interest to seniors.

WHEN:   3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (May 25)

WHERE: TTUHSC Academic Classroom Building, 3601 Fourth Street, Room 100

EVENT:  Free health screenings including blood sugar, blood pressure, body fat, depression, and hearing, as well as vendors sharing information on health, fitness and nutrition for seniors.

Sid O’Bryant, Ph.D., director of Rural Research at the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health and assistant professor in the Department of Neurology, will give a presentation at 4 p.m. about brain health. May is Older Americans Month and all screenings and lecture topics will relate to seniors.

Visitors can experience what it is like to have dementia through virtual dementia tours that will be available.  All screenings and lectures are free to the public.
