TTUHSC Ranks Among Nation’s Best Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Graduate Programs

U.S. News & World Report has ranked the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences among the top in the nation.

“This honor brings well-deserved attention to our schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and the institution,” said TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D. “It is reflective of our mission to provide quality education and produce well qualified health care professionals to serve West Texas and beyond.”

The 2012 edition of America’s Best Graduate Schools ranks the TTUHSC School of Nursing No. 64 of 509 U.S. nursing schools that offer master’s programs.

“We are fortunate to have some of the best and brightest nursing students and faculty in the country,” said Yondell Masten, Ph.D., R.N., interim dean of the TTUHSC School of Nursing. “This recognition will enhance our efforts to recruit top students and faculty to meet the nation’s nursing workforce needs.”

The TTUHSC School of Allied Health Sciences’ rehabilitation counseling program also made the list. The program ranked No. 56 of 96 programs in the U.S. The MS Speech-Language Pathology program ranked No. 60 out of 262 programs in the nation.

“These rankings reflect very favorably on the quality of our faculty, staff and students,” said Paul P. Brooke, Ph.D., dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences. “We are very pleased with this recognition.”

The magazine’s rankings of health disciplines are based on the results of peer assessment surveys by deans, administrators and faculty at accredited degree programs or schools in each discipline.
