State lawmakers are considering the approval of bonds for construction projects at higher education institutions, including the University of Texas at El Paso and Texas Tech's Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso is seeking $116 million for two projects. Officials with the regional campus have said that to continue expanding the 4-year-old medical school, they need money for a second research building and a clinical sciences building that would provide support for the Children's Hospital of El Paso.
